My performance of the evening went well, despite a rocky start. I have my friends to thank for getting me out of that predicament.Unfortunately it seems the entire thing was a complete sham. After being invited to stay the night at the isle manse we all awoke in a dilapidated courtyard with our possessions missing. I admit to more than a few moments of panic while I struggled with spellcasting without my orb.
As we uncovered the mystery surrounding our predicament and the strange, rotting manion, we discovered that the property had been cursed due to the horrible tragedies that had befallen the poor family. An affair unforgiven, a jealous mistress, a son and daughter both presumed missing, and a house fire. The poor family. It turns out that the butler was a creature of the most vile sort of evil, and the groundskeeper was his lackey. The murder of the daughter, the housefire, the pregnancy of the mistress the husband had left behind.. All of these were perpetuated by the aforementioned two vile men. All of these spirits have since been laid to rest, may their spirits find peace.
The son, however, has an ongoing tale. Through careful investigation, and a little arcane persuasion, we learned he had been transformed into a werewolf by his own grandfather. The groundskeeper, fool he is, chained the boy in the orchard where he had been secretly confined for centuries. A sweet young man, we've brought Garreth back to the Badger to offer him a home and employment. Hopefully he and Mithos will forge a close friendship.
Cadmael has attempted to remove the curse of lycanthropy laid upon the boy. Only time will tell if our attempts were successful. If not we will continue with our pledge to do so. He deserves a life of normalcy after such tragedy and hardship.
Interestingly when we returned from our adventure later that morning we found the same Lord Whatshisface that had initially hired me for the magic show at our premises. he was attempting to purchase the Onyx Badger, and at a discount no less, believing the owners were now deceased. Oh, how wrong he was...
