The Fall of the Light

Learning to Write, lesson 1

 

My name is ursar. I am a student at the tower of ioun and for the week i am learning to write. My teachers say that i should practice my writing by making a journal so this is my journal and first writing in it. I am supposed to write in it every day i am not too busy so I will try to do that.

Many days ago brother bear shows me a vision of tall men driving my family from the mountains. They are led by the king of a place called paramar and his name is jaravar. Brother bear tells me this. He says I have to kill the king to save the bending river. As ursar i must do as brother bear says.

I find a tall woman to take me to paramar a few weeks later after leaving the mountain. She says she will take me for 20 gold coins but she does not take me. I meet my friends who are a tall man and a tall woman and a little woman and they tell me to be quiet so i do not make trouble and invite me to a party.

The party is amazing! I eat everything including many things i do not eat so that is amazing. I poop in a empty room but i know now that tall people have a hole for pooping so i feel bad now. I am using the hole now though and it is bad but i am learning their way. I don't dance at the party but I want to but we are taken into a room and they talk at us and then i fall asleep.

I wake up and we are traveling north away from paramar but they tell me we have to do something else before we can kill the king. I do not know if i believe what they tell me but i am a stranger in this land so i have no choice. We find a old cave and we go in and kill bone men. They are weak i even killed a bone man with my hands and nothing else. We kill more bone men and then some more and then we are in a big floor with a scarier bone man but he has meat too. I charge him but he hurts my head but we kill him. Then a big scary bone man comes in and kills a little man i do not know why he was with bone men and then i see the earth mother.

She is pretty like the sun when you wake up and i hear her speak. She is talking at tall men about things i do not know and they are talking at her too. She goes away and then the scary bone man wants something from my little friend. She throws it on the ground and he kills her. I try to save her and he kills me too, but i am alive later and so is my little friend. Her name is kerin. I try to be more careful around scary bone men now so they do not kill me.

We leave the cave and go to a tower and kerin talks at another wizard and i am hurt by a magic wall. They say we have to come back so we leave and eat a good apple pie and apple meat and sleep and then come back. We fall in another cave but i think that is before we eat apples. I meet a tall man who looks like a man from paramar from my vision but he says no. Kerin tells me illusion is not real and i meet a illusion and it is not real so i am good. We talk at a wall man and he talks at us too and then i find a stick but kerin wants it. I am sad but she is my friend so i give her the stick. We go outside and i fly like a falcari. It is the best moment of my life and i want to be a wizard too so i can fly but they say it is really hard. It is almost worth not having the stick, but i do want a magic stick of my own someday. A ursar can dream.

I hope by learning to read and write good i am closer to being first ursari wizard. It is hard work but i am trapped in the tower and have nothing to do so i learn fast.

My friends are good people and i am thinking i can trust them. I am happy for the future and to see what it is.
