Overdue Tasks

Two long overdue tasks completed since last I wrote.

The first, we came across by chance. Accidentally stumbling on a clearly very old dragon, we were tasked to kill one of it’s younger rivals, a dragon we’d encountered before. Spiros has been avenged, and I hope his soul, apparently lost and not yet in the afterlife, can find a degree of peace.

The other is far more pleasant. Tracing the magical presence of the elves, we were able to eventually find our way to their city, Ireth Allanar. Oddly, upon arrival we were quickly greeted and told our arrival had been expected. He lead us towards a tower, where I was once again able to find Yurin. It had been too long. I still haven’t told her half of what happened and I’m not sure I ever will, but to hold her tight made the weight of the past few weeks feel lighter. The setbacks and failures all seemed to drop away when I was able to see her smile again.

My one wish is that I’m able to watch my children (Yes, childREN! Twins!) grow up. It appears we’ve arrived just in time to welcome them into the world, but given the forces massing around the forest, I’m not sure it will be time enough for them. Yurin was unwilling to leave her people, which frankly I admire, but it means to protect them we need to unite the people of the forest against those forces. Hopefully we’ll be able to do it and return to the city before my children are born, and it will be enough to ensure a place of peace for them to grow. It will also give us opportunity to return the body of Ursar to his tribe.
